Lagos council inaugurates three road projects to ease gridlock
As part of efforts to ease movement, the Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Rasheedat Abiodun Adu, has inaugurated three road projects in the council.
The roads include Samuel Adedoyin, Erelu Rasheedat Adu, and Erelu Aisha Oniru roads.Speaking on the projects, Adu said the constructed roads will reduce environmental pollution, and man-hour lost to traffic gridlocks, as well as reduce stress and add values to the property in the areas.
“We have renovated many roads while some have been completed; others are under construction to help residents have easy and convenient passage. Some of the roads we have constructed also include Olosa Street, Balarabe Musa, Jubril Martins, Abila Oniru and Muri-Okunola among others.”
Before now, these roads were in a terrible condition and as a government; we usually go around to inspect roads because we believe that Victoria-Island is an elitist environment. We decided to embark on quality projects that will be beneficial to everybody in the community,” she said. Adu charged community leaders and residents to take ownership of the roads by ensuring that people don’t engage in things that would damage them.
The Oniru of Iruland, Oba AbdulWasiu Lawal while inaugurating the Samuel Adedoyin road, thanked the administration for constructing the road. He noted that it would improve business and other daily activities in the community.
On his part, a lawmaker, representing Eti-Osa Constituency, at the Lagos House of Assembly, Naheem Adams, said: “The standard and quality of the roads are worth mentioning. It shows that the administration knows the value of the electorate and appreciates them.”
