The Abia State Police Command has disclosed that it has initiated investigation into the disappearance of four children of the same parents, who left home for school in the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka confirmed this to The Guardian in a statement yesterday.

The family of one Mr. Chimobi Agah, an indigene of Amasiri in Ebonyi State, who lives in Abia has been thrown into confusion over the disappearance of his four children whose whereabouts is yet to be ascertained.

The four children of the same parents have been declared missing in Umuahia, after a Keke rider, contracted to take them to school, took them to an unknown destination. The kids whose names were given as Mmesoma, Testimony, Godswill and Chinwotito, are the children of Agah, a resident of Umuagu, Umuahia.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the development to The Guardian.

She said: “On 28/11/2023, at about 15:30 hrs, Mr. Chimaobi Agha and his wife, Mrs. Chimaobi Oluchi, residents of Umuagu (IBeku, Umuahia North LGA), visited Ohuhu Police Divisional headquarters to report an incident. According to their account, on Monday, 27/11/2023, at 0730 hrs, Mrs Chimaobi Oluchi escorted their four children identified as; Chinweotiti Chimaobi seven-7-year-old (female), Nmesomachi Chimaobi, seven-year-old, (female), Testimony Chimaobi, four-year-old, (male) and Godswill Chimaobi two-year-old, (male).

The children’s mother escorted them to the junction of her street to board an unknown tricycle destined for Great Ambassadors College, Ukaiuga Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu, in Umuahia North local council. No one escorted or went with them, considering that the eldest is seven-year-old and the tricyclist is unknown.”

Unfortunately, the Police said at the end of the school day, the children did not return home as anticipated.

She disclosed that the police have initiated an investigation into the whereabouts of the missing children while further investigation has shown that the children were not present in school on the specified date, and the investigation to trace the missing children is ongoing.

“We urge anyone with information that could aid in locating them to promptly report to the nearest police station,’’ the police said.
