
To encourage hard work among students, a non-governmental organisation, the Margaret Ogbeide Memorial (MOM) Foundation, has awarded scholarships to five best students of Abavo community for their exceptional performance in Junior Secondary School (JSS) 2 Mathematics examination.
The students were tested in Mathematics and English Language, alongside 30 others, by officials from the state ministry of education, who declared them winners.
The six selected secondary schools that competed for the scholarship were Irenuma 2 Secondary School, Mixed Secondary School, Jegbefume Secondary School, Abavo Girls’ Secondary School and Obi- Anyima Secondary School.
The Managing Director, Victor Ogbeide, said the scholarship covers a year school fees, bags, notebooks and textbooks for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Ogbeide noted that with the initiative, recipients would be poised to study hard, and as young talents, pursue their studies with more zeal to enable them achieve success.
He said: “This programme is held to recognise young talents who have performed exceptionally well in their academics, these brilliant wards exhibit such qualities that will not only help them in achieving their goals, but also bring glory to their schools.
“It is our passion to support indigent children deprived equal opportunities in their upbringing and studies,” he said.
Ogbeide, who believes that good education plays a crucial role in building a child’s future, urged students to discover their potentials and make good use of them.
He also advised those who failed the examination to study hard for subsequent ones.
The students, their teachers and parents commended the foundation for the award, and pleaded that the initiative should continue.
