The Xplore Tech Trailblazer Awards has celebrated and recognised Dinah Lugard as the recipient of this year’s esteemed Women In Tech Trailblazer Award.

The event, held in Abuja, acknowledged Lugard’s outstanding contributions to the field of technology and her significant societal impacts through her groundbreaking digital rehabilitation platform, SoberTech.

Dinah Lugard, a distinguished figure in electrical engineering and cybersecurity, now adds another accolade to her illustrious career as the driving force behind ‘The Cure Initiative For Individuals With Substance Abuse NGO’ and SoberTech.

Originally from the Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa, Lugard stands out as an extraordinary philanthropist.

Starting her journey in the tech industry as a cybersecurity expert and electrical engineer, she has since become a dedicated coach in cybersecurity through her Cloud On SoberTech platform.

This initiative sheds light on securing online activities with simple yet crucial safeguards.

However, her ambition extends beyond that; she authored the book ‘Prison Without Bars: Breaking The Chains Of Drug Addiction’, produced the impactful documentary ‘Drug Pandemic’, and founded ‘The Cure Initiative For Individuals With Substance Abuse NGO’ along with the groundbreaking SoberTech Platform.

Lugard’s unshakeable faith in technology’s transformative power, especially in addressing drug addiction issues, is genuinely inspiring. This belief led her to create SoberTech and establish her NGO.

Her commitment to uplifting the less privileged and advocating for positive social change is evident in numerous initiatives providing basic necessities and educational opportunities to underprivileged communities across Nigeria.

In recognition of her selfless dedication and significant impact, Dinah Lugard received esteemed honours at the Xplore Tech Trailblazer Awards.

Expressing her gratitude, she stated, “I am deeply honoured to be named the recipient of the Women In Tech Trailblazer Xplore Award. This recognition inspires me to keep working to create positive change. Though the award bears my name, its spirit represents the collective efforts of all who strive to improve our world. Our shared humanity calls us to lift up those around us. I accept this award cognizant of both the progress made and the work yet to be done. May we move forward with purpose, compassion, and conviction.”

In addition to the Women In Tech Trailblazer Award, she has received several other notable accolades. In October 2023, she was honoured as the ‘Yessiey Woman Of The Year’ at the Yessiey Awards, and in August, she was recognised as one of the ‘Top 20 Young CEOs in Africa’ at the 10th edition of the Scream All Youth Awards 2023.

Furthermore, her SoberTech platform was awarded the title of Outstanding Tech Brand at the African Women Awards 2023, which honour accomplished professionals excelling in their fields while making significant social impacts.

Dinah Lugard’s continuous philanthropic achievements serve as an inspiration to others, encouraging them to engage in humanitarian initiatives and solidifying her reputation as a role model and a force for positive change in Nigeria.
