The chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had called for a thorough probe of the Ibadan bomb blast that killed many and rendered several others homeless late last Tuesday.

In his mourning, Abdulrazaq who is also the Kwara State governor called for objective and thorough investigation to forestall similar reoccurrence.

According to him: “the calls for objective probe are therefore in order to unravel what truly happened to forestall a repeat of such traumatic incident.”

In what he described as his heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of Oyo State on the tragic explosion, he said: “our thoughts and sympathies are with the good people and Government of Oyo State at this trying time.”

He however commended the prompt response of Governor Seyi Makinde to the devastating and sudden instance, saying: “I commend my brother His Excellency Seyi Makinde, and his team for the swift responses since the incident occurred.

“The incident again underlines the need for operators to adopt global best practices in mining operations and to prioritise safety at all times.

“We stand by the Government and people of Oyo State as they recover from the shock of this sad incident, and pray to Almighty God to forgive the dead and wish speedy recoveries for those injured in the explosion.”
