Iru-Victoria Island council boss pledges support for indigent traders

Executive Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island Development Area, Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu, has pledged to support indigent traders within her constituency and uplift their economic status.

 
She spoke during a palliative cash distribution to 500 indigent traders, where beneficiaries received N50,000 each to bolster their businesses.Adu, at the event, highlighted the ongoing programmes of her administration aimed at supporting local community members.
 
She said her administration had been able to empower people through the distribution of food and successful execution of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and fourth editions of the cash scheme.

She said: “We are giving financial support as cash gifts to our low-income traders, for them to be financially stable, especially at this time, and to elevate their standard of living.” Adu also announced a total disbursement of N25 million to support the traders.
 
She added: “We shall continue to put smiles on the faces of our people, while we ensure that their well-being and progress remain our priority.”A party leader, Ezekiel Agbo, extolled the initiative as one of the best in Lagos, saying, “what the chairman has been doing since she assumed office is wonderful. She has displayed good work, as a leader who has her people in mind. It is not easy to give out cash palliatives to over 500 people in a community.” He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds effectively,
