Amosun supporters dump APC for PDP, endorse Iyabo Obasanjo, Amuzu, others

Supporters of the former governor of Ogun State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun in Abeokuta South has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The supporters in Abeokuta South also endorsed the candidates of PDP, including Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, Chief Toyin Amuzu, Olufunbi Majekodunmi and Adeoye Adewale Adeniran ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Moshood Okanlawon Akinleye, who led the movement described the group’s previous experience in the APC as disappointing, declaring that its members had returned to the PDP, which he described as their political home.

Akinleye, who accused the APC in Ogun State of lacking direction and failing to offer the people purposeful leadership, likened the party to a cult, arguing that its policies and approach to governance had not reflected the aspirations of ordinary citizens.

He said the movement had resolved to identify with the PDP candidates at all levels to form a government, stressing that the group would mobilise its members and supporters to vote in 2027 as they would not vote “an outsider” to lead the State.

According to him, the decision to return to the PDP followed a reassessment of the movement’s political experience and its desire to align with a party it believes can better address the concerns of the people.
