Police nab 13 suspected vandals in Kano, two with dangerous weapons in Lagos

The police in Kano State have arrested 13 suspects for allegedly vandalising vehicles at the state’s High Court premises. Commissioner of Police Salma Dogo, who confirmed the development yesterday, said the suspects were arrested at the court premises.

Dogo said the command adopted proactive security measures to ensure the safety of residents during yesterday’s protest against bad governance in the state.

According to him, the police, in collaboration with sister security agencies, conducted intensive patrols to guarantee the safety of the residents and protesters.

ALSO, the Lagos State Police Command arrested two persons after a distress call in the Mushin area. The command said it responded to the distress call at about 1:00 a.m. regarding the presence of armed men on Agoro Street, Mushin, and drafted the tactical team based in Surulere.

According to the command, the team swiftly moved in and arrested 42-year-old Sherrif Mustapha and 28-year-old Suturat Lateef while one other escaped.
The spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspects led the police to 1 Moshalashi Street, Mushin, where they recovered two AK-47 rifles, one K2 assault rifle, one Red Rufer rifle, three pump action rifles, two locally made single barrel pistols, five magazines, 57 live cartridges, 70 5.56 live ammunition. 27 9mm ammunition, one expended 5.56 ammunition, one dagger, three walkie talkies and nine international passports.
