Michael Akpan, a name synonymous with automotive excellence in Nigeria, has a journey that is as inspiring as it is impressive. Born on August 30, three decades ago in Lagos, Michael, also known as A Plus, has transformed the landscape of automobile services in the country.

Graduating from the University of Lagos with a degree in Political Science, Michael’s path took a different turn. “I always had a passion for cars,” he recalls. “Even during my university days, I found myself more interested in how things worked mechanically than politically.”

Married with two children, his family has been his rock. His journey began humbly in the corridor of his one-room apartment in Bariga. “Starting A Plus Mechanics in such a small space was challenging,” he says, reflecting on his early days. “But I was determined to create something big from that tiny corner.”

A Plus Mechanics has now grown into a household name, known for its comprehensive 360-degree automobile services. Specializing in sales, repairs, and rentals, the company has set new standards in the industry. “Seeing A Plus Mechanics become what it is today is a dream come true,” he states proudly. “We’ve built a reputation on trust and quality service.”

In addition to A Plus Mechanics, he owns Easy Drops Limited, further cementing his position as a prominent business figure in Nigeria. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to excellence have not gone unnoticed. “Success for me is not just about the business,” he explains. “It’s about making a difference in people’s lives.”

Michael’s roots are in Akwa Ibom State, but Lagos is where he was born and bred. His connection to the city is deep and personal. “Lagos has shaped me in many ways,” he shares. “The hustle, the energy, it all fuels my drive to keep pushing forward.”

Beyond his business acumen, he is also a philanthropist. He believes in giving back to the community that has supported him throughout his journey. “Helping others is a core part of who I am,” he says. “It’s not just about building a successful business, but also about building a better community.”

In his thirties, his story is a testament to what can be achieved with determination, passion, and a willingness to start small. From the corridor of a one-room apartment to leading a major automotive service provider, his journey is an inspiration to many aspiring entrepreneurs. “Never be afraid to start small,” he advises. “With hard work and dedication, you can achieve greatness.”

Michael’s story is far from over. As he continues to innovate and expand his businesses, one thing is clear: the legacy of A Plus is just beginning.
