Police arrest three suspects for vandalism, theft in Rivers

Rivers CP, Disu

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, yesterday said officers arrested three individuals allegedly involved in stealing Point of Sale (PoS) machines, vandalising public property, and attacking motorists during the #EndBadGovernance protest .

He declared that the protest had been hijacked by hoodlums, morphing into a dangerous free-for-all with forced participation, threats to businesses, and widespread vandalism.

Disu, who led the management team of the command to the Federal Secretariat, the protest muster point, for an on-the-spot assessment, condemned the theft of car wipers, burning of tyres, molestation of journalists, and other criminal activities.

The police commissioner vowed to prevent hoodlums from exploiting the situation, committing crimes, and causing mayhem.

He noted that the police are on high alert and aware of the situation, assuring residents to go about their lawful duties.
