FRSC vows to prosecute drunk drivers
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, has vowed to prosecute any drunk drivers who knock down pedestrians while crossing the road.
Mr Akinwumi Fasakin, the FRSC Ogun Sector Commander, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ota, that such acts of drunk driving would not be tolerated in the state.
Fasakin was reacting to an accident in which a drunk driver knocked down two pedestrians along the Epe area of Lagos State on Saturday.
He explained that the hit-and-run driver who recently killed some pedestrians along the Sagamu axis had been tracked and traced using the registration number KJA635HY.
According to him, the driver or owner of the vehicle has been declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force.
“The FRSC is sending a warning note to drivers who engage in drunk driving, as they will be apprehended after testing positive in a sobriety test.

“In addition, the punishment for such an offence is prosecution in court,” he said.
The sector commander said patrol teams had been deployed to conduct random checks on drivers plying the roads in the state.
Fasakin also warned motorists against drinking while driving and urged them to refrain from excessive speed that could lead to unnecessary loss of life.
