LASTMA demotes 20 officials, dismisses eight over misconducts
Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) has said that no fewer than 20 of its officials were demoted while eight were dismissed over gross misconduct and corruption in the last 10 months.
General Manager of LASTMA, Babatunde Oki-Olalekan, while speaking with journalists in Lagos, yesterday, said that over 30 officials were given warning letters to dissuade them from engaging in activities that would tarnish the image of the agency.
Oki-Olalekan also said that when he took over in July last year, his team began a massive and aggressive training and retraining and reorientation of the officials for better performance on the road.
He, however, revealed that between January and July this year, the agency recorded 2,443 accidents while 109 lives were lost on Lagos roads.
