The suspects, identified as Edem Chuks, Oluwatobi Adeniji, and Emmanuel Ebere, were arrested after a distress call was received from concerned citizens about the kidnapping incident.

The victim was taken from the Oke Moro area in Isashi, where the kidnappers had coerced him into transferring over N1 million from his account.

According to the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, the kidnappers had already collected a ransom of two million naira from the victim’s mother before their arrest.

Hundeyin confirmed the details to the Nigerian Tribune, stating, “On 27/08/24 at about 12:00 hours, Ishashi Division received a distress call that some hoodlums had kidnapped a person at Oke Moro, Ishashi. A team of policemen, led by the DPO, immediately responded and rescued the victim.”

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had also demanded an additional two million naira ransom, which was paid by the victim’s mother through two separate accounts.

The kidnappers managed to withdraw one million naira from the victim’s bank accounts via mobile transfer and also seized his International Passport and other valuables.

Hundeyin added that efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the criminal gang.
