A Journey of Lifelong Learning
Adeyemi’s educational journey has trailblazed the path to his success as an engineer and technical master. He graduated from the University of Lagos in Nigeria with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1991. Eleven years later, he earned his Executive Master of Business Administration from the IESE University of Navarra, Spain.
Since his university studies, Adeyemi has committed his time to continuous development, reinforcing his reservoir and production engineering aptitude and strengthening his ability to mentor junior engineers and lead teams to complete business objectives successfully.
A Figurehead in the Industry
Haastrup’s professional career began at a company in Nigeria, where he was an asset team petroleum engineer for seven years. This position solidified his expertise in numerous skills, such as reserves estimation, production foresight, and formation assessment.
Adeyemi transitioned to his company, where he took on many multifaceted disciplines. Initially an asset team petroleum engineer, he soon became a production engineer, designing and directing well interpositions. He then transitioned into various coordination roles, including:
* Liftboat/barge coordinator and well reliability and optimization engineer – leading efficiency and reliability initiatives for wells
* Planning analyst and advisor – implementing the Corporate headquarter’s strategic vision to the company’s development and business plans
* Operations business coordinator – overseeing Operations department’s budgets and spend performance
Currently, Adeyemi is lead production engineer and production engineering team leader, supervising over 1,000 wells, determining appropriate budgets, and assisting his team with technical counsel. As an innovative figure, he has pioneered field development optimization strategies and launched initiatives for efficient operations.
One of Haastrup’s most significant milestones was leading non-rig work interventions at his company for five years. The business had been experiencing technical difficulties, resulting in production and revenue declines and the absence of new well drilling. His task was to develop a cost-effective plan to mitigate losses and sustain output.
Overseeing this project with a $30-$50 million budget, Adeyemi navigated the technical and financial complexities, leveraging his communication, management, and engineering skills. In this critical mission, he delivered exceptional results as he planned and executed good operations, including:
* 5,859 BOPD with a target of 3,899 BOPD in 2018
* 3,898 BOPD with a 2,500 BOPD target in 2021
Adeyemi’s insightful strategies had the unique chance to be documented and presented to industry practitioners through Society of Petroleum Engineers papers, one of which earned the “Best Conference Paper/Presentation” award.
Field Anticipation
Adeyemi aspires to grow personally and professionally in his industry, guiding the next generation and contributing to long-term business success. As one who experiences complex challenges, he stays educated with technological developments to apply them to creative solutions with data-driven decisions.
