The Nigeria Youth Organisation has urged the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Ajayi, to focus on intelligence gathering as a critical area in addressing the nation’s security challenges.

The President of the organization, Comrade Alamboye Duke, in a press conference held in Abuja on Monday also urged Mr Ajayi to develop Initiatives that actively involve Nigerian youths, recognizing them as key partners in fostering a safer and more secure Nigeria.

He insisted that only by including youth perspectives and participation in security programmes can Mr. Ajayi inspire a new generation of citizens dedicated to national peace and progress.

While congratulating Mr. Ajayi on his appointment as the new Boss of the DSS, he noted that his appointment at this critical juncture of the nation’s history underscores President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s future through capable and experienced leadership.

Duke acknowledged “Mr. Ajayi’s remarkable track record cultivated over 30 years in intelligence and security operations across various states, including Rivers, Bayelsa, and Kogi, among others, as well as his extensive training in management, Security leadership, and critical thinking, both in Nigeria and abroad, making him uniquely qualified to head the DSS in these challenging times”.

The NYO leader expressed confidence in Mr. Ajayi’s capacity to elevate the DSS and collaborate with other stakeholders to improve stability, security and unity across the nation.

The group said it is extending profound appreciation to President Bola for finding in Mr. Ajayi the leadership that can guide the DSS.

Reacting to Monday’s arrest of the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, Conrade Duke said the DSS must have a good reason and Nigerians should be patient as clarifications would soon be made.

Duke wondered why Mr. Ajaero was frequently getting into the bad books of security agencies and expressed hope that their differences would be amicably resolved for the benefit of all.
