Akpata cast his vote at exactly 10:36 am. at Ward 6 Unit 11 of Oredo Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking to journalists shortly after casting his vote, Akpata said that just as he was allowed to cast his ballot, he believes and expects all his supporters across the state would be allowed to cast their ballots without intimidation.
According to Akpata, being the only off-cycle election in Nigeria, INEC has all the luxuries to deploy its resources to Edo to have a free, fair, and credible election.

He reminded the electoral umpire that all eyes were on them to prove to Nigerians that they are capable of conducting credible elections in the country.
“INEC should be reminded that all eyes are on them. So, I am asking INEC to prove to the whole world that they are capable. This is an off-cycle election.
“This is an election that is happening only in Edo State, so INEC has no excuse. They had the luxury to deploy their resources to this election in order to ensure free and credible elections.

“So, this is an opportunity for them to show the world that they actually can do this job and do it well. I am hopeful and optimistic that this process will be acceptable. And that the play field will be totally level, and that the best man or woman will emerge.”
