Lafia, Sept.23, 2024 (NAN) Nasarawa State House of Assembly was making efforts to reposition the State Fire Service to tackle fire outbreaks and for effective service delivery in the state.
The speaker then committed the bill to the House Committee on Works and Transport to work on it and report back on October 21.
Earlier, Mr Suleiman Azara, the Majority Leader of the house, while reading the substance of the bill, said that it was aimed at repositioning the agency, providing fire fighting and rescue services to the state.
Also contributing, Luka Zhekaba, the Minority Leader, Mr. Jacob Kudu, Mr. Esson Mairiga, and Dr. Peter Ibrahim Akwe, all supported the bill to scale to a second reading.
They said that the bill, if passed and assented to, would also address the challenges of fire outbreak and other disasters in the state.

Azara moved a motion for the bill to scale second reading while Zhekaba seconded it.
The house later unanimously passed the bill into second reading.
