• Edo guber poll worst ever conducted by INEC, says PDP
• Adebule congratulates Edo governor-elect

Members of the Labour Party (LP) caucus in the House of Representatives rose from an emergency meeting yesterday, with an assurance that the President Bola Tinubu administration would not survive what they termed “the Obidients movement Tsunami” in the 2027 general election.

Led by George Ibezimako Ozodinobi, the caucus, comprising 33 members from across the country, strongly condemned the outcome of the Edo State governorship election, won by Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The caucus contended that the outcome of the election did not reflect the will of the electorate in Edo. Noting that Nigeria deserves a transparent electoral process devoid of any form of interference from agents of the state or any external force, the lawmakers urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take immediate steps to ensure the integrity of future elections, particularly the 2027 polls, is not undermined.

The lawmakers expressed concern over the irregularities and alleged malpractices that marred the electoral process ranging from vote buying by the so-called big parties, intimidation of voters, mass thumb printing of ballot papers and pre-writing and alteration of election results.

MEANWHILE, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, described the just concluded governorship election in Edo as the worst ever conducted by INEC.
Deputy Director-General, Media and Publicity, of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, Olu Martins, remarked while addressing newsmen in Benin.

Martins said that INEC made the election a must-win for the APC, following its actions and inactions. He accused the electoral umpire and security agencies of covering the massive irregularities during the collation process.

Martins added that the election was going on free, fair, and credible at the ward and council levels until INEC and the security agencies became interested parties, moving collation to the INEC’s state collation office.

ALSO, the Senator representing Lagos West District, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, has congratulated the Edo State Governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in the Edo governorship election.

Adebule rejoiced with President Bola Tinubu, officers and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels, especially those of Edo State, for working hard to secure this victory, as well as ensuring additional member to the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF). She hailed the people of Edo for casting their votes for Okpebholo and APC.

According to her, this confirms that the people are hopeful of a brighter and prosperous future for Nigeria, which is the focus of the economic reforms being implemented by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
