Gunmen have killed a 22-year-old driver, Idown Oguntuase, and kidnapped five people along Isan-Iludun Ekiti road in Ilejemeje Local Council of the state.

Sources told The Guardian yesterday that the victims were traveling along the road on Sunday evening when Oguntuase, the driver to the Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Council, was shot and killed.

Spokesperson for the Ekiti State police command, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the development and said the kidnapped victims have all been rescued alive.

Abutu noted that efforts are underway for the possible arrest of the perpetrators. Speaking on the development, the lawmaker representing Ilejemeje Constituency, Princess Iyabo Fakunle-Okieimen, called the attention of the House of Assembly to the incident, which occurred at the outskirts of Iludun Ekiti in Ilejemeje.
