The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Working Committee (NWC), yesterday, announced the suspension of allies to Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, over alleged anti-party activities.
Sylvester Ezeonwuka, Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, and Dr. Alex Obiogbolu were suspended for their involvement in what the party described as illegal local council congresses and primaries.
The suspension was announced during a briefing by the APGA National Chairman, Edozie Njoku, to journalists in Abuja yesterday. He outlined the party’s decision to address various infractions and indiscipline within the organisation.
According to Njoku, this action stems from their alleged involvement in illegal primary elections and congresses in Anambra State, contrary to the party’s Constitution.
The NWC also criticised Soludo and other elected officials for allegedly distracting the party through court proceedings, urging them to realign with APGA’s objectives or face disciplinary measures.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of APGA, Chekwas Okorie, disclosed this in Abuja, during a press briefing, reaffirming the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and integrity in the light of recent infractions.
The NWC resolved to address various layers of infractions and indiscipline by sanctioning members who indulge in anti-party activities, undermining the peace, unity, stability, growth and electoral value of the party across the country. Okorie said: “The NWC condemns the brazen disrespect of court judgments by Victor Oye, awaiting sentencing at the trial court.
“We also commend the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, for his obedience and law-abiding nature by taking steps to purge himself of the contempt charge. We intend to recommend that no punishment befalls him since he is doing the needful.”
He noted that a disciplinary committee has been set up to investigate the anti-party activities and acts of gross misconduct against the affected members and make recommendations to the NWC.
