Police in Nasarawa arrest woman for stealing seven-day-old baby

The Nasarawa State Police command said it arrested a woman for child theft at a baby’s naming ceremony party in the Keffi Local Council of the state.

Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ranham Nansel, confirmed this in a statement yesterday.

The police said that at about 6:30pm on Saturday, police officers attached to Keffi Division arrested a woman, Khadija Aliyu, for stealing a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in Keffi.

The suspect has confessed to committing the crime.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has called on members of the public to keep a watchful eye over infant babies during birthdays and other children’s ceremonies.
