Abducted ASUU zonal coordinator regains freedom
The Benin Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Monday, Igbafen, who was abducted at the weekend, has been released and reunited with his family.
An associate of the university don said he was released on Sunday night.
Sources close to the University don said he escaped from his captor, while another account disclosed that he was rescued unhurt.
A source said he had returned home to his family.
Igbafen is a lecturer at the Edo State Owned Ambrose Alli University AAU Ekpoma and the Zonal Coordinator, Benin Zone of ASUU.
The lecturer was said to have been taken hostage at about 9:00 pm on Saturday by the suspected kidnappers who intercepted him with motorbikes.
It was gathered that the ASUU zonal coordinator was accosted by the gunmen while he was driving into his residence at Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of the State.
