Group marks international girls child day with cash gift

The Soroptimist International of Ikeja, a non-governmental organisation has put smiles on the faces of five female students of Isheri Grammar School, Lagos and their parents, as part of the club’s activities to mark International Girls Child Day.

The five students; Ukwome Favour, Omoniyi Oluwaferanmi, Akpara Blessing, Oladimeji Oluwapelumi and Akpan Eno Gift got N50,000 each for NECO and WAEC examination fees

The President, Soroptimist International of Ikeja, Mrs Funke Salako during the cash presentation to the pupils said: “We did this out of the little we had so that we can make these girls achieve greater height in their academics.

“Though we are all retirees but we are not tired of putting smile on people’s face most especially women and girls.”

The Principal of the school, Mrs Abighe Elo appreciatd the club’s gesture.

One of the recipients, Oladimeji Oluwapelumi, thanked the group for the gesture.
