The Ogun State Government has charged the newly elected Chairmen and Councilors across the 20 Local Councils to embark on developmental projects and ensure that the dividends of democracy are evenly distributed to the nooks and crannies of their domain.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, who gave the charge in his congratulatory message yesterday, lauded the democratic process that led to their emergence.

He commended the electorate for their active participation and peaceful conduct during the election, pointing out that it symbolises the people’s trust and confidence in the ability of the new leaders to deliver meaningful governance.

Hamzat charged them to prioritise policies and projects that promote inclusive growth, rural development, and the welfare of their constituents.

“As representatives of the people, you bear the mandate to advance the aspirations of our citizens. I urge you to work tirelessly towards addressing the needs of your communities, fostering unity, and promoting development in every nook and cranny of Ogun State.

“Let your tenure be marked by transparency, accountability, and dedication to service. Together, we can make Ogun State a model for grassroots development and good governance,” he said.

He also assured the newly elected officials of the unwavering support and cooperation of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, stressing the need for collaboration between the state and local governments in achieving Governor Dapo Abiodun’s vision of a prosperous and inclusive Ogun State.

The Commissioner reiterated his confidence in the capacity of the new leaders to deliver and expressed optimism that their tenure will usher in an era of accelerated progress across the state.
