The book, which beams searchlight on the events surrounding the incident, is full of testimonies, reports, and detailed analyses of the incident.

Speaking at the book’s presentation in Lagos, Adewale said: “The events of October 20, 2020, were a turning point in Nigeria’s history. We saw a group of brave Nigerians, armed only with their voices and the national flag, face a heavily armed military. The bloodshed that night was a brutal violation of the people’s right to peaceful protest.”

According to the author, the book aims to open people’s eye more to the peaceful nature of the protest the Federal and Lagos State government sent armed soldiers to interfere in. It is also to reveal the various efforts by the government to cover up the atrocities committed at the Lekki Toll Gate.

“This book is to show the world what really happened to the defenseless protesters at Lekki Toll Gate and to reveal to the world fact about the unbiased Justice Okwobi Panel that the government denied. It is to expose the truth revealed in that report, that indisputably established the reality of the Lekki Massacre of October 20, 2020,” Adewale stated.

The book, which has 35 chapters, is divided into four parts: The peaceful protest and the military intervention, the impartial panel, defending a state crime and the illegal white paper. At the end, the author also makes some recommendations on how to address the issues raised in the book.
