The 5th Lagos State Real Estate Marketplace, themed “Reimagining Lagos Landscape: Ensuring Sustainability in Real Estate Development Practices,” provided a platform for innovative discussions. Among the notable panelists & speaker was Collins Clifford, a visionary real estate developer and CEO of OLLIC Real Estate Development Limited, formerly known as OneLegit Properties, a licensed real estate developer in Lagos State.

During his address, Collins emphasized the urgent need for sustainability and affordable housing solutions in the rapidly growing Lagos real estate market.

The program, officially opened by the Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, marked the 5th edition of the Lagos Real Estate Marketplace. The Governor also visited the OLLIC Development exhibition stand and appreciated the innovative projects showcased by the company.

Clifford urged the government to take proactive steps in addressing the challenges faced by developers committed to sustainable projects. “The government can play a significant role in promoting green developments by providing subsidized land allocation services to developers who are ready to embrace sustainability. This will encourage more investments in eco-friendly projects and pave the way for affordable housing solutions,” he stated.

Highlighting the essence of sustainable real estate, Clifford called on developers to prioritize environmental preservation by dedicating significant portions of estates to greenery and natural reserves, including wetlands and lakes. “Green estates are not just about aesthetics; they are about ensuring a harmonious coexistence with nature while offering residents a healthier and more serene environment,” he added.

During his presentation, Clifford introduced Eko Agro Villas, a flagship project that exemplifies his vision for sustainable development.“Eko Agro Villas is a 60% green estate designed to integrate nature reserves, wetlands, farms, green spaces, and lakes, creating an eco-friendly community that prioritizes both nature and modern living,” he explained.

The project aims to set a new benchmark for green estates in Lagos by combining innovative architectural designs with sustainable practices. “Our goal is to create an estate that not only reduces its ecological footprint but also enhances the quality of life for its residents while preserving the natural ecosystem,”Collins noted.

As the real estate industry continues to evolve, Collins Clifford’s advocacy for sustainable and affordable housing solutions is a call to action for stakeholders, policymakers, and developers.

By embracing green initiatives, the Lagos real estate market can lead the way in creating communities that are both future-proof and environmentally responsible.
