In grand style, the Mercyland International Schools, Abeokuta, Ogun State, rolled out the drums recently to mark the school’s 30th anniversary. Dignitaries from all walks of life, including the former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafadeen Ishola, and others, came to celebrate with the school that has produced students who are shining lights in different sectors of the country.

In her speech, the Proprietress of the school, Dr. (Mrs) Anuoluwapo Bankole, noted that the school is committed to continuous provision of a World-class education that prepares children for success in the ever-changing world.

She added that the school was founded on a vision to provide quality education, nurture young minds, and shape the future leaders in the society.

“It gives me great pleasure to stand before you today as we celebrate a remarkable milestone in the history of our school. 30 years ago (in 1994) this school was founded on a vision to provide quality education, nurture young minds, and shape the future leaders of our society.

“I am really grateful to Almighty God who did not only give the vision, but has also been with us these 30 years. Honestly it has been God and I heartily ascribe all glory unto Him. Today, we gather to commemorate three decades of excellence performance in the education industry, three decades of perseverance in the face of daunting challenges, and three decades of dedication to a noble course and vision.

“Today, we celebrate the countless lives that have been transformed, the dreams that have been ignited, and the futures that have been shaped within the four walls of Mercyland International Schools, Abeokuta,” she said.

While appreciating the pioneers who laid the foundation – teaching and non- teaching staff and parents who have been great partners, pupils and students and organisations, Dr Bankole said the school is committed to continuing the provision of a World-class education that prepares our children for success in the ever-changing world.

“I must not fail to appreciate the government of Ogun State, especially our parent Ministry – the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Mercyland is thriving today because the government has provided an enabling environment and guidance.”

On his part, the Chairman of the School, Chief Abel Ogooluwa Bankole disclosed that the school grew from five pupils, adding that the school has an unparalleled conductive environment for learning and leisure.

“The school has grown from five pupils, including the founder’s two biological children, to a great educational institution, offering quality education from Creche, Kindergarten, primary and secondary level for 30 years since 1994. The school has an unparalleled conductive environment for learning and leisure.

“Our products are carrying the noble touch of excellent and quality attainments in their chosen careers all over the world in Medicine, Engineering, Law, Architecture, Communication, Art and Aeronautical discipline

“We were able to expand our land space and infrastructure through acquisition facilitated by our Bankers and financial institutions. We are blessed with dedicated staff and supportive parents and guardians over the years. We remain grateful for their services,” he said.
