Akwa Ibom gov sacks all commissioners, gives reasons
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has explained his decision to dissolve the state cabinet and dismiss all commissioners, stressing the need for a fresh start to sustain his administration’s development agenda.
Speaking during a valedictory session at the executive chambers on Friday, Eno clarified that the move was not due to poor performance by the outgoing commissioners.
“If this was about non-performance, none of you would be leaving. You have all delivered and contributed to the success of the Arise Agenda,” he stated.
The governor explained that the decision was driven by a desire to inject new expertise into the administration and usher in a new phase of governance.
“We must end one season and begin another to maintain our momentum and achieve greater results,” he added.
The cabinet members, many of whom had served under former Governor Udom Emmanuel before being retained by Eno, were reportedly kept in office to ensure continuity and reward their commitment.
Sources suggest that the dissolution allows the governor to assemble a new team that aligns with his long-term vision for the state.
