My interest in fashion was sparked by my passion for creating clothing that makes women feel confident and beautiful. Growing up, I noticed that plus-size women often struggled to find stylish and comfortable clothing, and I wanted to change that. What motivates me to continue creating is the positive impact my designs have on women’s lives. Seeing my customers feel empowered and confident in my clothing is what drives me to keep pushing the boundaries of fashion.

What’s your favorite part about being a fashion designer, and what’s the most challenging aspect of your job?
My favorite part about being a fashion designer is seeing my designs come to life and knowing that they will make a positive impact on women’s lives. The most challenging aspect of my job is finding ways to balance creativity with commercial viability. As a designer, I want to create clothing that is both stylish and comfortable, but I also need to ensure that my designs are profitable.
How do you stay current with the latest fashion trends, and how do you incorporate those trends into your designs while maintaining your unique voice?
I stay current with the latest fashion trends by attending fashion shows, reading fashion magazines, and following fashion influencers on social media. When incorporating trends into my designs, I always consider how they can be adapted to fit my brand’s aesthetic and values. I believe that trends should be used as inspiration, not as a dictate. My unique voice and perspective are what set my brand apart, and I always prioritize those when creating new designs.
Can you walk us through your design process, from concept to final product?
My design process typically begins with inspiration. I might see a beautiful fabric, a stunning piece of art, or a stylish woman on the street, and I’ll think, “That’s what I want to create.” From there, I’ll sketch out some ideas, considering factors like fabric, color, and silhouette. Next, I’ll create a prototype, which I’ll test and refine until I’m happy with the final product. Throughout the process, I’m always considering my brand’s values and aesthetic, as well as the needs and desires of my customers.
Your brand focuses on creating clothing for plus-sized women, promoting inclusivity and body positivity. What inspired you to cater to this demographic, and how do you aim to make a positive impact through your designs?
I was inspired to cater to plus-size women because I saw a gap in the market. So many fashion brands were ignoring this demographic, and I wanted to change that. I believe that every woman deserves to feel beautiful and confident, regardless of her size. Through my designs, I aim to promote inclusivity and body positivity by creating clothing that is both stylish and comfortable. I want my customers to feel empowered and confident in their own skin.

What advice would you give to emerging fashion designers looking to break into the industry, and what are some common mistakes to avoid?
My advice to emerging fashion designers would be to stay true to their vision and values. It’s easy to get caught up in trying to follow trends or please others, but ultimately, your unique voice and perspective are what will set you apart. As for common mistakes to avoid, I would say that one of the biggest mistakes is not knowing your customer. Understanding who your customer is, what they want, and what they need is crucial to creating successful designs.
Your “Smart Dress” prototype has been praised for its versatility and inclusivity. Can you elaborate on what inspired you to create this design, and how you envision it impacting the fashion industry for plus-size women?
I created the “Smart Dress” prototype because I wanted to design a dress that would be versatile, comfortable, and stylish for plus-size women. I was inspired by the idea of creating a dress that could be worn in multiple ways, making it a valuable addition to any woman’s wardrobe. I envision the “Smart Dress” impacting the fashion industry for plus-size women by providing them with a stylish and comfortable option that can be worn in a variety of settings. I hope that this design will help to challenge traditional fashion industry standards and promote greater inclusivity and body positivity.
