Man arrested in Ogun for assaulting wife with hot oil, knife

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Mr Sholola Kazeem, for gender-based violence and assault after he allegedly poured hot oil on his wife and stabbed her in the head.

The incident occurred on January 18, 2025, following a domestic dispute.

A statement released by the police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest.

“At approximately 12:20pm, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owode Egba received a report from members of the Ring Road community concerning an incident involving Mr Sholola Kazeem and his wife, Mrs Sholola Mutiat,” the statement read.

“The DPO promptly intervened in the case of gender-based violence and assault, arresting Mr Kazeem for causing injuries to his wife.

“Mrs Mutiat was subsequently taken to Ore Ofé Hospital for medical treatment, and the crime scene was examined.

“The suspect is currently in police custody and is being investigated. Further updates will be provided as they become available,” the statement concluded.
