Popular disc jockey, Oluwaforijimi Amu, popularly known as DJ Jimmy Jatt, has revealed that he lost his sight in 2020 and was later diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.

Jimmy Jatt made these revelations while speaking on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Sunday.

He recounted how his decision to explore life beyond Nigeria triggered a series of unexpected health challenges.

“Maybe I caused it myself,” he confessed during the interview, his voice laced with a mix of regret and acceptance.

He said in 2019, he made a decision to leave Lagos, where he had spent his entire life, in pursuit of experiences across Europe, America, and other parts of the world. However, by 2020, what began as an exciting adventure took a grim turn.

“I lost my sight and had to undergo surgery to restore it,” he said.

Following his recovery from the surgery, Jimmy Jatt said he relocated to the United States to continue his plans of living abroad.

He explained further that during this period that he received the shattering news of his chronic kidney disease diagnosis.

“Eventually, I returned to Nigeria for a kidney transplant and took time off to fully recover,” the DJ revealed, adding that the procedure marked a significant chapter in his health journey.

Jimmy Jatt clarified during the interview that kidney disease is not always linked to poor lifestyle choices.

“I’ve never smoked and had long stopped drinking alcohol,” he explained,

He emphasised the importance of health awareness and encouraged people to prioritise regular medical check-ups.
