Group seeks improved welfare for persons living with disabilities

The Founder of Aredu Trust Foundation, Mr. Adebayo Muritala,  has called on well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) and the vulnerable in the country

Muritala, who spoke at the official opening of the Foundation’s new office at the Lasigun Court, Aregbe Area in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, said it would be of their advantage, if individuals could join the government to assist them.

He said: “As a visually impaired person, l believe that some persons with disabilities are richly endowed differently with potential and talents, regardless of tribe, status and background for societal development.” He urged the government to establish homes for persons with disabilities to improve their living conditions.

He encouraged the youths and persons with disabilities to showcase their abilities, focus on their passions, and break societal misconceptions. He said that he launched the women’s cooperative in February 2024, to primarily focus on women with disabilities and young females.

He added: “I believe that in disability there is ability, and I do practise it and it works for me. I used the advantage to reach out to many people that are facing challenges, to let them know that is not the end of life.

“We have branches in Nigeria, Ghana and we are going to have branches all over the world. This is just the starting point.

“No matter what you have, either money or knowledge, you have to pass it to people, by supporting or training people so that our community can be great and we will have less crime.”

Aredu Trust Foundation was founded by three visionaries – Muritala, Oguntolu Ifatoke aka Baba Sango of the USA and Abdulrasheed Sanni from Ghana to inspire change and empower communities across Africa.

Also speaking, Ifatoki, expressed passion for supporting the less- privileged people, saying: “When I met Adebayo with his great spirit, I also met the third founder in Ghana. We all gathered together and we saw the mission we have in common. They inspired me to raise fund for the projects in line with their course.

“Today, with their support, the project has taken off and Africans will benefit from the foundation.”
