Gunmen attack Katsina LG chairman’s residence, kill security aide
Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have attacked the private residence of the Executive Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area (LGA), Katsina State, Matazu Deyi, killing his security aide.
The Guardian gathered from reliable sources that the incident occurred late Tuesday night and led to the killing of a police corporal attached to the LG boss, Shamsudeen Lawal.
It is not clear if there were injured victims, but it was gathered that the attempt to break into the private residence by the hoodlums was thwarted.
A source said the executive chairman and his family were in the house when the incident occurred. He added that substantial damage was done to parts of the house during the attack.

Malumfashi is amongst more than a dozen insecurity-prone LG areas in the state, with terrorist attacks reported frequently, especially in rural communities.
Hundreds of persons have fallen victim to attacks by the hoodlums in recent times, with several cases of killings, abductions and rustling being reported in the security-prone councils.
However, the state government through its Community Watch Corps (CWC), has been working with security operatives to tackle the menace which is especially common in communities located close to forest reserve areas.
As of the time of thisreport, the spokesperson for the police command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu has yet to respond to an inquiry or issue a statement on the incident.
