Delta Chief dismisses oil bunkering allegations against Olu of Warri

The Oritsuwa of Warri Kingdom, Godday Erewa, has refuted claims linking the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism.

A recent report had alleged that a company chaired by the monarch was involved in such activities. However, Erewa described these accusations as baseless and unfounded, emphasizing that the Olu has never participated in illegal ventures.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Erewa noted the Olu’s contributions to the development of the Warri Kingdom and the Niger Delta, stressing that the monarch has focused on promoting socio-economic progress and societal well-being.

Erewa also raised concerns over the timing of the allegations, suggesting they were aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the monarch for ulterior motives.

“We call on Nigerians to disregard these unfounded claims and recognise the Olu of Warri’s dedication to national development. Instead of attempting to bring down reputable leaders, efforts should be directed towards collaboration and nation-building.

“For the record, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III remains a beacon of hope, a promoter of peace, and a visionary leader dedicated to the prosperity of his people. His efforts to ensure security, economic engagement, and sustainable development are evident in the transformation within Warri Kingdom and beyond,” the statement partly read.
