Popular native doctor arrested in Anambra

Chidozie Nwangwu, a native doctor who is famously known as Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki has been arrested by security operatives in Anambra State.

On Saturday, the Anambra State New Media account posted a video of Nwangwu being questioned by the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Onyeka Ibezim.

“BREAKING NEWS!! Akwa okuko tiwaraki n’Oba denies okeite and has been detained for further investigation by the Security Agency,” the post read.

Nwangwu is known for his lavish lifestyle on social media platforms, particularly Instagram.

When The Guardian’s correspondent surfed his Instagram page on Sunday, his page was filled with pictures and videos of his ostentatious lifestyle and some herbal concoctions being prepared.

In the video posted by the Anambra State New Media, Nwangwu denied his involvement in “Oke ite”, an Igbo phrase loosely translated to ”big pot” in English.

He also claimed to have stopped engaging in it.

“I heard about the law about oke ite. Go to my page. You won’t see anything about oke ite. I have stopped it. But that oke ite, we were the ones who gave it that name. It is just a name, and it is because it is always in a pot,” said Nwangwu.

The state’s deputy governor noted that he will be further investigated.

“We want to see those things and the evidence of what you’re doing. That is what we want to see and failure to get all these things, of course you know the consequences. Get the team ready. We will investigate him,” said Ibezim.
