A Peoples Democratic Party stalwart in Ondo state, Dr Desmond-Awoyo Oluwadamilola, has called for an end to artificial conflicts in Ondo State, particularly between Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, Commissioner Isaac Wunmi, and former First Lady Betty Akeredolu. The state’s dynamic political landscape requires stability and governance over political distractions.
Awoyo emphasised that Betty Akeredolu should step back from active political engagement, allowing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to focus on his administration’s mandate.
“The people of Ondo State deserve an administration that is focused on delivering good governance, infrastructural development, and economic progress, not one bogged down by political infighting,” Awoyo said.
He added that, “It is in the best interest of the state that she (Betty Akeredolu) allows the current administration to operate without undue influence.”
The PDP member stated that continuous political interference risks derailing the state’s progress, and the people of Ondo deserve better.
He further advice that Commissioner Wunmi to avoid unnecessary rifts with the state deputy governor and not priotise governance over public spats and distractions.
“Both Commissioner Wunmi and Deputy Governor Adelami both have significant roles to play in the current government, and any form of division will only weaken the administration and slow down developmental efforts,” Awoyo warned.
“The administration’s success relies on leaders working together for the state’s collective good. It is crucial for Commissioner Wunmi to remain focused on her responsibilities and not allow herself to be swayed by political gimmicks aimed at causing discord within the government,” Awoyo said
He further warned that internal conflicts should be avoided to ensure the people of Ondo State receive the leadership and development they deserve.
“This is a time for governance in Ondo State, and all political actors must put aside personal interests and focus on the collective good,” Awoyo concluded.
