
Speaking at the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration in Awka, the State capital, at the weekend, Mrs Soludo , represented by the State Head of Service, Theodora Igwegbe, at the event, themed, “Accelerating Action”, called on women to take greater responsibility in raising morally upright and responsible children, asserting that the rise in social vices among young people is traceable to poor parenting.
The governor’s wife pointed out the need for women to instill discipline, hard work and positive values in their children, urging mothers to put more efforts in raising responsible children as to eliminate rascality and criminality in the state.”
Also, young people gathered at the IWD Youth Celebration organised by The Light TV Show alongside IDK Learning Centre and Neuro-G Foundation to engage in critical discussions on social transformation to ignite a movement of advancing women’s rights and fostering a society where men and women are equal.
Presenting a paper on marriage instability, a Life Member and President of Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Awka Catholic Diocese, Lady Vera Onyenwe, lamented the ugly experiences of women and girl-children who find themselves in toxic relationships or subjected to unhealthy and unnecessary traditional practices of Genital Mutilation.
