The National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (NANS-D) has constituted an electoral committee to conduct elections for its various leadership positions.
This followed the conclusion of the tenure of the President of NANS-D, Juwon Fayomi, which terminates this month end. In a statement yesterday, the chairman of the electoral committee, Chibuike Divine, said the panel members had been saddled with the responsibility of conducting a free and fair poll.
The statement reads in part: “The leadership of NANS-D has been dissolved, and the electoral committee inaugurated on February 26, 2025. This is in accordance with the association’s Constitutional Act to usher in a new administration after one term in line with the zoning order.
“The electoral committee members, headed by the Chairman, Comrade Chibuike Divine (Turkey), have been saddled with the responsibility of conducting a free and fair election that will collectively depict the unanimous choice of Nigerians in Diaspora through their chapter delegates.”
“The tenure of the current President, Comrade Juwon Fayomi, will end in March 2025. Therefore, the need for progressive and capable leadership is paramount. It demands the prospective development of solutions to the rising issue affecting Nigerian students in the Diaspora.”
The electoral panel has Comrade Vincent Ibeanusi, from the Philippines, as Secretary. Other members are Comrade Gabriel Tom (South Africa); Comrade Abubakar Mohammed (Niger Republic); Comrade Samuel Olayeri (UK), and Comrade Ibioribo Tamunosiki (China).
The electoral appeal committee’s members include Asst. Prof. Evidence Ahkayere (Chairman); Comrade Prince Ogah John (Secretary); Comrade Collins Albert (member), and Comrade Abubakar Albert Razak (member).
