Police arrest suspect for raping minor in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Rabiu Usman, for allegedly rapping an 11-year-old minor in Timdore District, in the Ganye Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the arrest followed a referral from the Chief Magistrate Court, Ganye, based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.

Nguroje said on February 16, 2025, the victim, while attending a wedding ceremony in Timdore village, went to a nearby house to drink water where the suspect forcefully dragged her to the rear side of the compound and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

He said upon receiving the report, the victim was taken to a medical facility in Ganye for medical examination and treatment.

Nguroje further stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned in strong terms the act and directed the Officer in Charge of the Family Support Unit of the command to take over investigation and ensure a diligent prosecution of the suspect.

“The Adamawa State Police Command remains resolute in its fight against all forms of sexual Abuses and gender-based violence as such Urges Parents and Guardians to Closely Monitor their Children and report to Police especially those with questionable,” the spokesperson said.
