FUTIA to partner DRDB to promote indigenous technology

The Federal of University Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), has pledged to partner with the Defence Research & Development Bureau (DRDB), a Bureau under the Federal Ministry of Defence, Abuja to promote indigenous research and technological transfer in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Leo Daniel, made the pledge when he received along with other Principal Officers of the University the Director General of Defence Research and Development Bureau(DRDB), Major General Emmanuel A. Ndagi at the Campus of the University in Ikot Abasi.

The Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics stated that the college was established to champion academic excellence in the areas of Sciences, Technology, and Innovation (STI) among others.

He particularly mentioned some of the flagship programmes of the University including Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering among others with rich faculties and researchers in various fields.

The Vice-Chancellor assured that the DRDB has made the right choice in seeking collaboration with the institution considering the academic capabilities and research focus of the University.

He pledged their readiness to undertake need-based research that is tailored towards the needs of developing indigenous technologies that will satisfy the specific needs of the Bureau and other research institutes, government agencies, oil companies, and multinational firms operating in the country.

Earlier, the Director General of DRDB, Major General Emmanuel A. Ndagi, expressed appreciation to the university community for the great opportunities that abound, hoping to work together to move the country forward technologically.
