BG Wellington: Pioneering shortlet investments and elevating Nigerian fashion globally

Augustine Epere, professionally known as BG Wellington, is a distinguished Nigerian fashion designer, entrepreneur, and real estate investment leader. A graduate of Computer Science from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, he has successfully fused technology with creativity, making significant strides across both the fashion and real estate industries.

As the visionary founder of the Shortlet Elders Community, BG Wellington created a pioneering platform that connects agents, hosts, and investors in the booming short-term rental space. Through this initiative, he has empowered hundreds of stakeholders by fostering collaboration, innovation, and shared wealth within the industry.

In addition, he is the brain behind the Shortlet Elders Investment Scheme—a monthly investment initiative where investors earn attractive returns from high-yield short-term rental opportunities across Africa and beyond. The scheme includes unique investor incentives such as luxury travel, referral bonuses, and flexible capital packages. Under his leadership, the platform has paid out consistent monthly profits and built a reputation for transparency and success.

BG Wellington also established the Shortlet Elders Awards, an annual ceremony that celebrates excellence, innovation, and leadership in the shortlet and real estate sectors. The event honors professionals, companies, and change-makers driving growth and redefining standards in the industry.

In fashion, BG Wellington is the creative force behind BGW (BlackGold Wellington)—a brand celebrated for its stylish yet affordable bespoke collections. His fashion line offers three signature packages:
– BGW Casual – Everyday wear that blends comfort and style
– BGW Classic – Timeless pieces that exude sophistication
– BGW Complete Gent – Elegant ensembles crafted for the modern gentleman

His mission is clear: to elevate Nigerian fashion brands onto the global stage and encourage international markets to embrace suits made in Nigeria. This vision earned him the prestigious Supreme African Fashion Designer of the Year award at the 4th edition of the Supreme Dynamic Talent Academy (SDTA) Awards in January 2025.

In 2022, he gained international attention for styling actor Enyinna Nwigwe and several international models at the Black Panther premiere, showcasing his signature African print attire. Between March and May 2023, BG Wellington embarked on a fashion tour across West and East Africa, collaborating on commercials, style projects, and campaigns that embraced African heritage and modern design.

His global expansion continued with a European fashion tour in June 2023, where he made appearances at Torino Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and London Fashion Week, positioning the BG Wellington brand as a beacon of African excellence on the world stage.

Through his innovative spirit, entrepreneurial leadership, and dedication to cultural pride, BG Wellington has emerged as a trailblazer, inspiring young creatives and entrepreneurs across Africa and beyond to dream bigger and build boldly.
