The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, says President Bola Tinubu is committed to investing in development, peace, and security to build a nation all Nigerians can be proud of.
Idris made the statement during his inauguration as Chairman of the Niger State Development Forum (NSDF) on Wednesday in Abuja.
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Aliyu Abdullahi, was also inaugurated as Co-Chair of the forum.
The forum members were inaugurated by the Gov. Umar Bago of Niger.
The minister of Information emphasised the strong link between development, peace, security, and infrastructure.
“These elements are not just interconnected, they are mutually reinforcing. We must remember that no meaningful development can occur without peace and security,” Idris said.
“The dividends of development often serve as catalysts for peace and stability.
“This is a reality well understood by President Bola Tinubu, whose administration is making significant investments as part of a holistic strategy to transform our nation.
“Mr President has made it clear that security is non-negotiable. It is the foundation upon which all other aspects of national progress depend.
“That is why, under his leadership, the Federal Government is sparing no effort, no resources, and no commitment in strengthening our national security architecture.
“The goal is clear: to create a safe and enabling environment where communities can thrive, businesses can grow, and development can take root.”
Idris reaffirmed his commitment as a son of Niger and as Chairman of NSDF to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
He noted that the forum, under his leadership, would work towards strengthening ties between the state and federal institutions, as well as with both the public and private sectors.
“Guided by our core values, we will enhance policy advisory capacity, drive project implementation support, back quick-win initiatives, expand membership and collaboration, and strengthen the Secretariat.
“To my fellow forum members, your commitment is the engine of our progress. Let us maintain this momentum, attend our quarterly meetings, and contribute meaningfully,” he urged.
In response, Bago encouraged the forum to do its best in advancing the state’s development, assuring them of his administration’s full support to enable the forum to deliver on its mandate.
He also highlighted Niger’s vast resources and untapped potential, stressing that the government would leverage these assets to place the state on the global map of rapidly developing regions.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the forum is made up of sons and daughters of Niger, many of whom have served—or are still serving—in various capacities at the state and federal levels across the country.
