A humanitarian group, Auchi Oldies 8089, has donated drugs and essential items to elderly women at the Holy Family Home for the Elderly in Mushin, Lagos.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the group, Mr Peter Chike Nwadei, said the visit was part of its yearly outreach programme.

According to him, the group had visited the same home last week to donate food items and returned this week to provide drugs. “We started about six years ago. This year, we are focusing on the elderly. Last year, we visited motherless children in Magodo, and two years ago, we were in Abuja,” he said. Nwadei added that the group plans to do even more before the end of the year, including providing wheelchairs for some of the elderly women.

The Secretary of the group, Mrs Mariam Ugbeva, explained that the project was self-funded through contributions from members. “We raised the money among ourselves on our WhatsApp platform. After we showed members pictures of the elderly women, many of them donated willingly,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the home, the Assistant Coordinator, Mrs Totiloye Josephine, expressed joy and appreciation to the group, stating, “We are very happy. Everything they brought will be useful for the elderly. We truly appreciate them.”

The Auchi Oldies 8089 group pledged to continue supporting the needy, describing their humanitarian service as a duty to be fulfilled yearly.
