Dr. Imani Silas to speak at African Ambassadors Economic Forum in DC

Dr. Imani Silas has been announced as one of the speakers at the upcoming African Ambassadors Economic Forum (AAEF), scheduled to take place on July 18, 2025, at the African House in Washington, D.C.

Organised by the Global Initiative for the Advancement of Africa (GIAA), the forum will bring together diplomats, government officials, and leaders from across the continent and diaspora to explore strategies for economic and social development. Dr. Silas, a medical practitioner and entrepreneur, will join a lineup that includes Professor PLO Lumumba, Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs Hon. Imaan Suleman-Ibrahim, and President Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Also expected at the event are former Liberian Vice President H.E. Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor, former ECOWAS Vice President Amb. Toga Macintosh, African Union Ambassador H.E. Hilda Suka-Mafudze, and former AU Ambassador to the U.S., Dr. Arikana Chihombori Quao.

Dr. Silas is the founder of Imani Aesthetic and Laser Institute and Imani Aesthetic Clinic in Nigeria. With more than seven years in aesthetic and clinical practice, she has focused on advancing treatments suited for African skin and creating opportunities for women in the healthcare sector. According to her team, she has trained over 500 women and holds certifications from global institutions, including the British Medical Laser Association and the North American Board of Aesthetic Medicine.

Dr. David James Egwu, co-founder of GIAA and convener of the forum, noted that the event aims to strengthen ties between African nations and diaspora communities while highlighting local innovations that can support inclusive development.

The forum will begin at 9:00 a.m. EST and is expected to host stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
