FGC Ijanikin to host 12th intercollegiate games tomorrow

The Lagos First Generation Heritage Colleges Association (LAFGHECA) has announced that the 12th LAFGHECA Intercollegiate Games will hold at the Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos.

In a statement yesterday, the organisation said that the event would be an unforgettable experience featuring thrilling competitions, engaging activities, and a celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork.

The event will bring together over 25 schools, including King’s College Lagos, CMS Grammar School Lagos, Igbobi College Lagos, and Methodist Girls’ High School Lagos.

According to LAFGHECA President, Tajudeen Adebambo, the association aims to foster unity and rekindle healthy rivalries among schools, promoting physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition.

The event is hosted in strategic partnership with Sports360nja, a Nigerian sports media platform that provides innovative coverage and analysis of local sports while promoting sports development at the grassroots level.

Earlier, the DEO of Sports360nja, Ukaobisike Uzoije, highlighted the significance of school sports in grassroots development and advocated for increased media coverage of grassroots sports.

“The sports media industry needs to prioritise grassroots sports in their news coverage and reporting as part of their professional calling,” Uzoije emphasised.

The event is partly supported by Golvia, an online platform connecting sports talents and athletes, he said.

Director of Sports, LAFGHECA, H.A. Badru, had earlier announced that everything is in place to make the event memorable for students, parents, and guests, highlighting its importance in developing life skills and problem-solving abilities.
