The fifth Emmanuel Egbele Yearly Scrabble Tournament (EEAST), tagged ‘Quinta Essentia,’ will hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, from July 5 to 6, the organisers have said.
The championship is expected to draw the country’s best players, who will battle for slices of the enhanced prize money, spot prizes and surprise gifts and awards.
Speaking on the 2025 edition of the championship, its convener, Emmanuel Egbele, expressed excitement on the growth of the sport, saying: “It’s been a journey marked with challenges but we are encouraged by the strides we have made in elevating the status of scrabble as a vehicle for social change and development.
“Scrabble is a beautiful game. Whichever way you look at it, there’s bound to be a rich connection among the players and enthusiasts. Socially and academically, the EEAST has been massively strategic in creating a vibrant global community where the desire to harness the positives is in the high.”
