Arbitrators to deepen core ADR principles

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Nigeria Branch has pledged to deepen the core principles of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in its forthcoming conference.

In a statement jointly signed by Mr Seyilayo Ojo (SAN) and Mrs Laura Alakija, co-chairs of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), the event is expected to attract key stakeholders, professionals, and dispute resolution experts.

They will engage in insightful discussions and practical workshops aimed at strengthening ADR mechanisms in Nigeria and beyond.

According to the statement, the conference will serve as a platform for participants to share experiences, enhance strategic approaches, and explore contemporary innovations in dispute resolution.

“This conference provides a unique opportunity for participants to be part of highly engaging sessions, hands-on workshops, and to network with leading experts and peers in the ADR community,” the co-chairs noted.

Scheduled to be held from November 12 to 14, 2025 in Lagos, with the theme “Connecting the Dots: Core Principles, Innovation, and Meaningful Outcomes,” the conference is billed to attract more than 500 delegates including leading arbitration and ADR practitioners, academia, Attorneys-General from within and outside Nigeria, and will provide an invaluable platform for knowledge sharing and networking.

“The conference will showcase a compelling lineup of sessions including topics on Artificial Intelligence, Third-Party Funding in Africa, the National Policy on Arbitration and ADR, as well as a session curated as an Oxford style debate on a topical issue in the practice of arbitration and ADR.

The conference aims to foster insightful discussions that will shape the future of dispute resolution in Africa,” they stated.

The co-chairs added that aside from the eagerly awaited Gala Nite which also is a themed evening of celebration and networking, the conference will also have some social events specially curated to give delegates a most enjoyable and memorable experience of the cultural heritage of Lagos State.
