I’m not here to follow rules, but to shake tables – Mr. Bady

For Nigerian Afrobeats artist Mr. Bady, music isn’t just rhythm and rhyme — it’s rebellion, release, and raw expression. Born Uchenna Richard in the vibrant streets of Onitsha, Anambra State, Mr. Bady has worn many hats: a street-hardened hustler, a freestyle maverick, an unfiltered youth voice. Now, with a growing fanbase and a defiant edge, he’s stepping into the spotlight on his own terms.

In an exclusive chat, Mr. Bady shared the driving force behind his art and why he refuses to conform to industry norms. “I didn’t grow up with much. I was raised by the streets. Everything I know about survival, about hustle, about energy, about love — it’s in my music,” he says, his voice carrying the grit of lived experience.

“I am unpredictable, original and full of life. I don’t like overthinking life. Whether I’m in the studio or dealing with life’s challenges, I let positive vibes lead. I might be sipping something, going through something, or just feeling the energy of my environment. That’s how I create — no filter.”

That spontaneity has become a defining trait of his music and personal brand. But so too has his unapologetic authenticity. “A lot of people want to do music, but they don’t have mind. This industry no be beans. You need confidence. You need madness. That’s why I tell people, if you no get mind, no put body. This thing na war.”

Beneath that bravado, however, is an artist who has intentionally crafted his identity. Mr. Bady’s visual aesthetic is street-meets-sophistication — a blend of rugged elegance that resonates deeply with urban youth and international audiences alike. “I know what I want to look like. I know what I want to sound like. I’m not here to beg for space, I’m here to take it. Mr Bady no dey knock door. I dey burst enter.”

The artist’s confidence isn’t unfounded. Snippets from his studio sessions and visuals from his debut EP, Mr Bady Deh Here Xo, released in September 2024, have been stirring buzz online. His fanbase is steadily growing, drawn to his energy, authenticity, and magnetic presence. More recently, his singles “Ojemba” and “Achalugo” have topped charts and sparked viral trends — proof that his message is resonating.

Still, beyond the hype, Mr. Bady says his mission remains rooted in originality and impact. “People are tired of copy and paste. I want to bring originality back. I want people to hear my song and say, ‘Who be this guy?’ That’s the goal — to be unforgettable.”

In a sea of artists chasing trends, Mr. Bady stands tall — fueled by vision, street smarts, and unapologetic self-belief. With another EP already in the works for August 2025, and a wave of anticipation building across social platforms, Mr. Bady isn’t just another name in Afrobeats. He’s a movement in motion.

“I’m not here to follow rules,” he says with a smirk. “I’m here to shake the table.”
