To promote sustainable housing for residents, the Lagos State Ministry of Housing has moved to reinforce compliance with policies and regulations, ensuring orderly management and better living conditions across government-owned housing estates.
This was made known during a two-day in-house training, themed: “Enhancing Effective Monitoring of State Housing Estates,” organised for its Monitoring and Compliance Officers, which objectives include reinforcing housing guidelines and regulations, enhancing monitoring and enforcement processes, strengthening officers’ understanding of operational procedures, developing practical monitoring skills, improving enforcement mechanisms, and promoting order and compliance in housing estates.
Speaking at the forum, the State’s Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, who chaired the event, reiterated the ministry’s commitment to providing sustainable housing solutions for Lagosians. He urged the officers to take advantage of the training towards self-development and in assisting the government achieve its mandates.
“This initiative underscores the ministry’s unwavering dedication to improving the quality of housing, promoting orderly estate management, and fostering sustainable living for all Lagosians,” he said.
Declaring the training open, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Abdulhafis Toriola, an engineer, emphasised the importance of capacity building in improving service delivery and maintaining high standards within housing estates.
According to the government, the training will enhance overall service delivery, improve the quality of life for residents, encourage greater adherence to housing policies, ensure better maintenance of government-owned properties, and enhance the overall management of state housing estates.
