Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, and Benin Republic top the list of countries that have signified interest in participating in the forthcoming 13th West Africa Deaf Football Competition and the third West Africa Deaf Athletics Championship holding simultaneously in Abuja, from August 18 to 31 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium.
Tagged “Abuja 2025,” the competitions are part of the ceremonies lined up to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
WADSU President, Amuda Ibrahim, said at a media parley in Lagos, at the weekend, that the body is prepared to stage a befitting championship that will be second to none in terms of logistics.
Highlighting the purpose of the championship, Ibrahim said that it will among other things, help the country to select athletes, players, and teams for future global championships like the Deaflympics.
